The Kiebingen rubber weir consisting of two spans has come in the place of a weir constructed in 1903. The rubber weir serving to operate a hydropower plant controls the water level at a precision of ±2cm.

The rubber weir option was chosen for economic reasons with no downsides in terms of performance, sediment transport or energy dissipation.

During its operating time of more than 15 years the weir has resisted the impact of ice and other floating objects. One of the major advantages of the rubber weir from the operator’s viewpoint is the low maintenance requirement.
